North Carolina is investing heavily in their weigh station tech. The state is dropping $5.8 million to rev up two key inspection sites.

The Tech Highlights
- Weigh-in-motion (WIM) systems
- E-screening for faster processing
- Virtual weigh stations
- License Plate Recognition (LPR)
In addition to all of this, trucks can now be weighed even at highway speeds.
Hendersonville's New Look
- Both east and westbound lanes get WIM + E-screening
- Two new virtual weigh stations added
- Rest areas double as inspection points
Halifax County's Upgrades
- New mainline sorter systems
- Cutting-edge WIM tech
- Tire Anomaly and Classification Systems
- LPR capabilities
All in all, the upgrades hope to boost commercial vehicle safety, speed up driver inspections, and streamline I-95 corridor operations
