TOP LANE MOVERS POWERED BY TRIUMPH

A broker on r/FreightBrokers this week questioned why so many shippers insist on “asset-based only” partners, even as those same companies routinely broker freight themselves. The broker asked whether non-asset brokers are being pushed out and if there’s any way to overcome that objection.
Commenters pointed to perception and accountability. Asset ownership signals stability, control, and responsibility when things go wrong. One broker at an asset-based carrier said they lead with their trucks but are transparent about using trusted partner carriers when needed. Others noted growing “broker fatigue,” where shippers feel burned by missed trucks, poor communication, or lowball bids.
Non-asset brokers aren’t obsolete, but trust is the barrier. To compete, brokers must sell reliability over price, clearly explain how capacity is secured, and prove over time that problems will be owned and fixed, not passed along.

A Canadian man is in custody after being arrested in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula while driving a stolen semi-truck, according to Michigan State Police. Officers stopped the vehicle near the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge after spotting commercial violations and later confirmed the truck had been reported stolen out of Ontario, with its VIN altered to conceal its identity.

The driver, Yuvraj Singh of Brampton, Ontario, was arraigned on multiple charges, including receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle and motor vehicle fraud. The truck and trailer has been seized and Singh was released on a personal recognizance bond with several conditions, including:

The narrative around trucking fraud and regulation has shifted sharply, moving beyond routine compliance into the realm of national security. Federal agencies and industry leaders are now coordinating crackdowns on illegal CDLs, English language proficiency violations, ELD manipulation, and foreign data risks, with enforcement accelerating rapidly since mid-2025.
States are facing direct federal pressure, fleets tied to ELP violations are vanishing from activity maps in a matter of weeks, and market data shows participation tightening at historic levels. What was once dismissed as ineffective oversight is now being framed as a systemic risk to supply chains and public safety. As scrutiny intensifies, the industry is confronting a new reality: enforcement is no longer theoretical, it’s visible, measurable, and reshaping freight in real time.

Holiday Fraud Watch: Protect the Rate Con
As we approach Christmas week, direct theft and compromised email remain the top fraud vectors brokers should be watching. With lean staffing and faster handoffs, small gaps can quickly turn into risk.
Rate confirmations are a common target. When intercepted or altered, they can be used to redirect freight or impersonate trusted carriers.
Highway’s Secure Rate Con Delivery helps protect this step by delivering rate cons through a controlled, identity-verified channel—keeping critical details out of exposed inboxes during high-risk holiday weeks.

Every December, Wreaths Across America coordinates one of the most meaningful logistics efforts in the country, delivering millions of wreaths to veteran cemeteries nationwide to honor fallen service members. While the tradition is widely recognized, the scale of trucking required to make it happen often goes unnoticed.
Ryan Joyce, CEO of GenLogs, shared that after seeing photos from Arlington National Cemetery, he began tracking the wreath-laden trucks moving across the U.S.

According to news provided by Wreaths Across America:
This is a powerful reminder of the scale behind a tradition quietly supported by thousands of truck movements nationwide.
