Here is an interesting one.

Former NFL Quarterback Mark Sanchez was hospitalized late Friday night after an altercation with a truck driver in Indianapolis.

Sanchez was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds and later arrested and charged with Level 5 felony battery. This charge can carry a 1-6 year prison sentence.

The driver, named in the affidavit as "P.T.," claimed he stabbed Sanchez in self-defense after he attacked him in a loading dock of the Indianapolis hotel.

The altercation began when Sanchez, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, "accosted" a 69-year-old driver who had his box truck backed into the loading dock of the hotel.

This is where the story gets weird.

Sanchez climbed into the truck, grabbed the P.T., and threw him to the ground. He told P.T. that he had told the hotel manager he couldn't be there. Sanchez blocked the driver from entering his truck to try to call for help.

The situation quickly escalated, and the driver felt like his life was in danger. He pepper-sprayed Sanchez, who continued to advance towards the driver. The driver was quoted as saying, "This guy is trying to kill me."

The driver pulled his knife, but Sanchez continued towards him. The driver stabbed Sanchez 3 times.

Per the affidavit, “The next thing P.T. knew was Mr. Sanchez looked at him with a look of shock, he slowly turned around, and Mr. Sanchez took off northbound in the alley.”

Sanchez was later arrested and charged with Level 5 Battery

This goes to show some of the dangers drivers face, especially in urban loading docks. While this case is high profile, drivers can often find themselves in danger.

Stay in your vehicle whenever possible.
That cab door is your safe zone. If someone’s trying to get in, lock it. Call dispatch, security, or the cops. Once you step outside, you lose your advantage.

Document, document, document.
Photos of the dock, timestamps, location pins, everything. If something goes down, those small details prove what really happened — especially when lawyers or insurance adjusters start circling.

Know your surroundings.
Alleys, hotels, downtown docks — they’re unpredictable. Scope exits, lighting, and camera coverage before backing in. If it feels sketchy, trust your gut and call your dispatcher.

Your life > your load.
Freight can be replaced. You can’t. If someone threatens you, walk away and report it. No bonus or delivery window is worth a trip to the morgue or ER.
