DOT Blitz Week starts tomorrow, and brokers are bracing for one of the toughest weeks in years. Plus: $10.1M in stolen freight leads to five years in prison, Forward Air loses 40% of its value, diesel prices hit produce costs, and more.
Aurora's driverless trucks are moving real loads between Dallas and Houston right now, and nobody is in the cab. Plus: RXO signals a strong freight rebound, Ken Adamo joins Ease Logistics, rail got faster to Mexico, and more.
Aurora signed two major partnerships in one week. Spot rates just hit an all-time high. A Chicago cross-dock blew up Reddit over how shippers load trailers. And someone dug into Super Ego's carrier network — the safety scores are not okay.
Over on r/Truckers, the debate is on about the limitations of trucking speed. Is 63mph ridiculous? How about 59mph, according to one user who stated that Raider Express keeps their drivers locked to such a speed.
Some don't mind the speed limit, with one user commenting:
My truck is limited to 63mph as well and I honestly love it, I rarely have to stress about overtaking others and I can just do my thing in the right lane as everyone passes me, and I get paid hourly so it doesn't make a lick of a difference to me.
It has been noted that the speed limits are there to cut costs according to another user:
Lower speeds= lower rpm’s. Lower rpms= less fuel consumption. It’s not about safety, it’s about the operating costs.
But for brokers, speed limiter policies can have broader operational consequences. Reduced driving speeds may lead to:
Tighter delivery margins due to longer transit times.
Increased detention risk, especially when trucks arrive outside scheduled windows.
More frequent rerouting, as slower travel affects time-sensitive pickups and deliveries.
How do you see it? Do speed limiters improve efficiency in the long run, or do they create avoidable constraints across the supply chain?

Sean Duffy, the United States Secretary of Transportation, continues to fight to get "unqualified drivers" off the road after a horrific chain-reaction crash on June 28, along I‑20 near Terrell, Texas, tragically claimed six lives and injured others.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 27‑year‑old semi‑truck driver Alexis Osmani Gonzalez-Companioni, 27, allegedly fell asleep at the wheel around 2:40 p.m., plowing into a Ford F‑150 carrying five people. The impact caused two additional 18‑wheelers to jackknife, which then struck three more passenger vehicles.

This incident continues to fuel the battle of ensuring the safety of all drivers on the roadways.
FreightCaviar Story of the Week
A nationwide cargo theft ring pulled off 15 high-value heists, stealing loads like golf carts, cosmetics, and solar panels, often worth over $200K each. Using rotating MC numbers, fake IDs, and the same trucks with new identities, they hit brokers coast to coast.
But their undoing? GenLogs’ truck tracking tech, which exposed repeated cab numbers and shady plate swaps.
