Building Clarity in Carrier Data

Today, we explore Garret Allen’s journey through freight tech, the launch of SearchCarriers.com, and how it’s delivering actionable carrier insights with new tools and features.

Building Clarity in Carrier Data

Garret Allen has spent over a decade in the freight industry. He began his career in March 2013 at Integrity Express Logistics, an Ohio-based brokerage, where he joined as a software developer after proposing and building a transportation management system (TMS) for the company. Over the next eight years, he played a key role in scaling both the technology and the engineering team.

In March 2022, Garret transitioned to Transfix to deepen his experience within a technology-driven organization, serving as a Software Engineering Manager. It was two years later, in February 2024, that Garret, wanting to start something of his own in the logistics realm, co-founded LoadParter, a communications platform focused on building and selling freight tech for brokerages. As the market became increasingly crowded, he realized his preference for working with smaller teams and maintaining a more focused, hands-on approach.

“It felt like the only way to compete was to raise money. It was such a race to the bottom that we were losing business early on. We would talk to somebody, and they would say, ‘This is the best thing that we’ve seen so far, but your competitor is going to give it to us for free’. As a small, bootstrapped company, you just cannot compete with that. You need to make money and pay the bills.”

What sparked his next venture, SearchCarriers, came while building the LoadPartner TMS. Like many before him, he quickly realized the importance of integrating with the FMCSA and pulling that data directly into the platform. Recognizing an opportunity to give the industry a clearer, more accessible way to view and understand carrier data, Garret decided to make it available to a broader audience. In April 2025, he launched SearchCarriers.com.

All the data is indexed across 30 data sets all the way down to equipment level details to the people that own the company.

“Even if you’re looking for a company, there are three different data sets for that alone that can sometimes conflict, and they’re updated at different times.

Garret describes it as a constant battle. The FMCSA regularly makes changes to its data sets—often without advance notice. When those changes occur, alerts come in, and Garret jumps into action, ensuring the updated data is uploaded, making any necessary adjustments, and reprocessing it so everything is accurate and ready for users.

He recently added the inspection tool so you can access various details. Any ELP information and equipment breakdown is available as well.

“It’s been really fun building for people that you know are using it day to day. I think the B2B side of it comes more naturally, and making it so that these people say, ‘I love this tool, I enjoy logging in and using SeachCarriers because it makes my life easy to do what I’m trying to do.”

In the upcoming year we can expect more intelligence around the associations. This includes visibility into state filings, the types of loans companies have taken out, and how those funds were used. Garret also plans to roll out Endorsements, a feature that will allow users to leave positive reviews and highlight trusted partners.

“Anything you’d want to see or know about a company when you pull it up on the website, I want it to be on this page.”

Garrett has built a tool that cuts through the noise and gives brokers and operators the clarity they’ve been missing. As the platform continues to evolve, SearchCarriers is positioning itself not just as a data source but as a trusted layer of intelligence for the modern freight ecosystem.
