🎣 Brokers Could Be Cooked
The Supreme Court just heard arguments in the broker liability case we’ve been tracking. Plus: oil shipping costs explode, trucking insurance is stuck in 1980, regulators brace for a carrier crackdown, and more.
Today’s newsletter breaks down Glassdoor ratings for the 25 largest freight brokerage CEOs and highlights the top five highest rated CEOs.

Levity helps 3PLs and freight brokers save time by automating repetitive email tasks.
Two years ago, we analyzed the top 100 Transport Topics freight brokerages by comparing their Google reviews to identify the highest-rated ones.

Today, we’re diving into Glassdoor reviews for the top 25 largest freight brokerages to find out which CEOs are the most approved by their employees.

After analyzing the data, we’ve narrowed it down to the top five.
Here’s who came out on top:

From the top 25 largest freight brokers of 2024, the highest-rated CEOs based on employee feedback are:
Edward "Eddie" Lund, son of Allen Lund (founder of the Allen Lund Company), leads the company, which ranked 17th among the largest freight brokerages this year with over $1.179 billion in gross revenue and $160 million in net revenue.
Last year, we had the chance to interview Eddie's brother, Kenny, for a two-part podcast about the Allen Lund story. Hearing their journey firsthand, it’s no surprise they rank so highly.
Here are the links to listen to the interview: Part 1 and Part 2.
Armstrong Transport Group (ATG), led by Cameron Ramsdell, has been a FreightCaviar sponsor since January.
ATG ranked 21st among the largest brokerages this year, reporting $1 billion in gross revenue and $170 million in net revenue.
Coincidentally, this Thursday, I’ll be interviewing Cameron for an episode of The FreightCaviar Podcast. Learning today that he has the 2nd highest approval rating among top 25 freight brokerages makes this interview even more exciting. Stay tuned—the episode drops on December 23rd!
Donnie Burris has led Trinity Logistics since Burris Logistics acquired the company in 2019.
Trinity ranked 23rd among the largest brokerages this year, reporting $956 million in gross revenue and $165 million in net revenue.
Trinity has been a FreightCaviar sponsor since August, and I just learned today that their CEO ranks among the top in approval ratings. Looks like we’re attracting the best companies as sponsors! 😄 Stay tuned—we’ll be interviewing Trinity Logistics early next year.

Rapido Solutions Group, based in Guadalajara, Mexico, connects U.S. logistics companies with top supply chain talent.

This one might come as a surprise: Ken Oaks, CEO and Founder of TQL, ranks #4 with an impressive 87% CEO approval based on an astounding 8,252 reviews.
TQL ranked 2nd among the largest brokerages this year, reporting $6.637 billion in gross revenue and $1.479 billion in net revenue.
Andrew Silver, former CEO and Co-Founder of MoLo Solutions, commented on our X post yesterday, saying TQL is "vastly underrated."

Others shared differing opinions on LinkedIn, with Zane Holcomb humorously commenting:

Say what you have to say about TQL, but Ken has built one massive empire. Read more about TQL in a deep dive we wrote a couple of months ago:

Daniel Berardi, CEO of Priority1, secured 5th place with an 87% approval rating.
Priority1 is now the 18th largest freight brokerage in the U.S., reporting $1.1 billion in gross revenue.
We hope to set up a podcast interview with Daniel soon to learn more about Priority1 and why he’s so highly regarded by employees.
A satisfied workforce isn’t just about happier employees—it translates to better service for shippers and carriers, lower turnover, and a stronger company reputation.
